Orange Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 150 g butter
  • 100 g caster sugar
  • 50 g grounded almonds
  • 150 g sugared orange, stripped
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g plain flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
 Garnishing
  • 50 g decor gel
  • 30 g fresh cream
  • Orange coloring

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC, line a 18 cm (7 inches) square cake tin with grease proof paper.
  2. Beat butter, sugar, grounded almonds and sugared orange until light and fluffy. Add in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder and soda, fold into egg mixture until well blended.
  4. Spread batter into cake tin. Bake in oven for 60 minutes or until cooked.
  5. Slice the cake, combine the garnishing ingredients and spread over the cake. Or decorate as desired.
 Sugared Orange
  1. Bring sugar and water to boil. Pour in orange slices.
  2. Cook until sugar syrup is thicken.
  3. Remove and ready to use.
