Mousse cakes are creamy, and very appetizing as an after meal dessert. The mousse itself is actually fresh whipping cream, mixed with the type of flavor your mousse cake is. Mousse cake normally uses simple sponge cake as the base and most of the preparation time is spent on whipping up a good mousse cream. Mousse cake is especially nice when prepared with some fruits and it tastes more delicious by having it freeze before serving.

Making mousse cake is also very tricky in a sense that the mousse cream need to be prepared carefully so that the mousse is creamy and solid enough after keeping in the fridge. Adding appropriate amount of gelatin is also crucial in ensuring proper gelling of mousse cream. It is also important not to over whipped the fresh cream.

Mousse cake also normally molded using smaller round baseless cake tin so that it is easier to remove the cake tin after the mousse cake as set. Of course there is no limitation in term of size or shape of cake tin to be used in making mousse cake. Also normally small slices of sponge cake is use as base for mousse cream.
