| Angel Biscuits Recipe |
Ingredients |
Makes about 4 dozen 2 inches size biscuits
- 5 cups self-raising flour
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- ¾ cup vegetable shortening
- 2 cups buttermilk, warmed
- 1 cake or envelope yeast, dissolved in a little warm water

Method

- Sift together the dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening until thoroughly mixed.
- Add the warm buttermilk and the yeast.
- Work the dough together until all the flour is moistened.
- Cover the bowl tightly and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Take as much dough as you need and roll out to
½ inch thick on a floured board.
- Cut with a biscuit cutter and place on greased baking sheets.
- Let the biscuits sit for an hour before baking to give them a head start on rising.
- Heat the oven to 400ºF and bake the biscuits for 12 to 15 minutes.
