Ingredients
Sponge
180 g chocolate sponge mix
3 eggs
45 ml milk
45 g butter (melted)
Chocolate Filling
1 orange (sliced)
100 ml of water
100 g of sugar
200 g of fresh cream (whipped)
250 g of chocolate decor gel
Preparation
- To make sponge cake, preheat oven to 180°C; line bottom of a 18cm (7-in) cake tin with greaseproof paper.
- Beat sponge mix, eggs and milk in a mixer with high speed until light and fluffy.
- Turn to low speed, fold in melted butter until well blended.
- Spread batter into prepared tin and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool completely, split into 3 layers.
- To make filling, bring water and sugar to boil.
- Add in orange slices.
- Continue cook until sugar is thickens.
- Remove and leave to cool.
- Drain well and chop orange.
- Spread cream on a slice of cake, follow with chopped orange, spread cream and sandwich with sponge cake.
- Continue layering until finished.
- Coat cake and refrigerate for a while.
- Coat cake with decor gel. Decorate as desired.
