Fake Fruit Cake?

After a hiatus of 4 weeks, it’s time to get back to my blog here. I know being a blogger, it is important to keep updating the blog as often as possible.  So the first post after hiatus is this photo of this strawberry fruit cake. Or is it real? Maybe, maybe not. I actually showed it to my friend and she said it looks nice and too good to be eaten. When I told her it’s a handcraft cake of the size of a thumbdrive, she’s surprised. The handcraft cake was bought at Chak Tuk Chak market in Bangkok sometime ago. I’ll post more pictures of these cakes. In the mean time, do check out more real fruit cakes recipes over here.

A Slice of Chocolate Strawberry Cake

OK, here’s a lousy snap that I took when I was in Macau. I was at the iconic St. Paul’s ruin. It was summer August 2008, the weather was hot. Then I stumbled upon a cake shop somewhere over there and decided to went in to have a drink and a cake. So the cake that I decided to eat was chocolate strawberry cake. What makes this cake so memorable was the soft and fluffy chocolate sponge cake that naturally melts in my mouth. The mousse that is layered in between the sponge cake is however a little bit bland. But then again the blandness is complimented with the strawberry jam that is spread in between the cake. Also there are some strawberry fruits on top of the cake. Lastly, I kind of forget what was the price that I paid for the chocolate strawberry cake as I was too enjoyed savoring the cake .

Anyhow, I have a recipe for another version of chocolate strawberry cake. This version is rather heavy on the chocolate since the cake is fully coated with melted chocolate. In making the strawberry filling, I can use tin of strawberry puree or even using fresh strawberry fruits that is mashed or blended with some syrup. Also, we can use strawberry fruit jam as filling too. Lastly, for those who like chocolate, this is the recipe for you!

Cotton Cheesecake

It has been some time since I’ve been to Thailand, the land of smiles. The best thing of going to Thailand is to saviour the food over there. So if you are adventurous enough and not afraid to experience weird food and a foodie like me, then this is a country you should visit.

However, one of my most vivid memory of going there is trying out a particular cheesecake sold in a supermarket named Central. It was sold at a stall called Miki Ojisan No Mise. There is many type of cheesecake being sold there, but the one that caught my eye was the light cheesecake ala Japanese light cheesecake or simply cotton cheesecake. The cake is light to the stomach and not too sweet. I actually have a recipe for typical cotton cheesecake. I have tried it for several times, but still can’t match the one I ate in Miki Ojisan.

Cupcake with Icing Sugar

OK, this picture will make a good first post. The cupcake was made by my pal. She was having a busy time baking these little cute cup cakes with icing sugar on top. Trust me, this is no easy feat, as she is the only one doing the baking and cake decoration. Her friend was apparently very busy with other stuff. Me? Can’t rely on me, because I’m too preoccupied with my own kitchen chores She is also experimenting with different art designs on the cupcake, so having a lot of creative juice is quite crucial here

I personally do not have a special preferences for icing sugar, probably because I found them to be too sweet. Anyhow, she is not really making these icing sugar cupcakes for herself; she is making them to sell. Oh, the other day, she was teasing me for setting up a cakes recipes site. I told her it was my passion, so these recipes may of good use to some people looking for some reliable cakes recipes online.

OK, enough for self promotion, I think I’ll continue compiling recipes.
