Almond Sour Cream Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 6 eggs, separated
  • 1 or 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Heat oven to 325ºF. Grease and flour a 10 inches tube pan.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar. Sift together the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with the sour cream.
  3. Add the egg yolks, one at a time, to the mixture, stirring well after each addition. Stir in the almond extract and vanilla.
  4. Beat the egg whites until firm and fold into the batter. Pour into the pan and bake for 2 hours.
